I find that straight hair complements my face the most, and the most effective way to straighten it without doing too much damage to it is to use a ceramic flat iron. I don't recommend the cheap $30 ones from Target or Wal-Mart either. Although they straighten pretty well, if you're like me and straighten everyday, they don't last longer than a couple years and are more likely to damage your hair faster.
Speaking from experience, I am a cheap ass and have went from using Con Air to Remington, to Vidal Sassoon, and after having gone through so many poor flat irons, I eventually succumbed and decided to invest my money into a professional ceramic flat iron. I did some research for a couple months, and decided to go with the Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron. I read so many positive reviews on it, and while I was torn between that, the Sedu, and the Chi, I decided that $90 would be the maximum I would spend.
And the results?
Don't regret it at all! In fact, I wish I had bought it a lot earlier, it really is a quality flat iron, and compared to the old Vidal Sassoon one I had, the plates are still intact, aren't melted or peeling off, and it still works perfectly to this day. I've owned it for over a year now, and even though I straighten my hair almost everyday, it still straightens like I had just bought it yesterday! It is one of the few most efficient and reliable products and is worth every penny. Just a suggestion for anyone who's been thinking about buying one.
Here's a picture of my hair after using Solia flat iron.
Definitely recommend it. :)
